State of the SME Segment, July 2026

SME turnover for July 2026 came to approximately INR 5,238 crores, up 3.1% from June's INR 5,078 crores. Breadth stayed mildly negative for the month, with 238 symbols closing up against 306 down and 3 flat. New 52 week highs (38) trailed new 52 week lows (47), a small tilt to the downside rather than a sharp one. Here is the detail.

Daily SME turnover in INR crores through July 2026, with the busiest day highlighted

New 52 week highs and new 52 week lows

Thirty eight symbols touched a new 52 week high this month, led by names that our smart money screening has already flagged. OPTIVALUE and FORCAS among them, both on sustained buying rather than a single spike. KODYTECH and METALIC also touched new highs on steady turnover through the month.

Two names stood out for the size of their single day move rather than a gradual climb. ICELCO jumped 76.1% on 10 July on genuinely heavy volume, roughly six times its usual daily turnover, and it held most of that gain through the rest of the month rather than giving it back. TEJA jumped 99.5% on 7 July and kept climbing afterward, ending the month at more than three times its starting price. Neither symbol showed a corporate action flag and neither move reversed the next day, so the data supports a real, if unusually sharp, rally in both cases. We are noting the size of the jump here rather than treating either as an ordinary steady gainer.

Forty seven symbols touched a new 52 week low. C2C (down 34.1% for the month) was the most traded name among the decliners. A real and liquid fall rather than a thin volume artifact, continuing the slide we flagged last month. TIRUPATI, VMOBILE, and FOCE also touched new lows on meaningful turnover.

Two numbers that needed a second look

Before either name went anywhere near a headline number, we checked them the way we always do with an outsized print, same discipline as the PSUBANK split. VMARCIND closed 81.5% down on 7 July, and DIVINEHIRA closed 66% down on 2 July. Both moves happened in a single session, both were isolated to that one symbol on that day, and both carry NSE's corporate action flag for the exact date of the drop, unlike a genuine crash. We are leaving both out of any "top mover" or "most active by percentage change" framing for the month, the same rule the PSUBANK post led us to add for moves beyond plus or minus 50%. PSRAJ, covered in an earlier weekly post, was a third such case this month, closing 79% down on 24 July under the same confirmed corporate action flag.

Most active names this month

VMARCIND was the single most traded SME name of the month at roughly INR 158 crores, almost entirely driven by the corporate action above rather than ordinary trading demand. Setting that one aside, the next most active names were QLINE (INR 147 crores, roughly flat for the month), C2C (INR 145 crores, down 34.1%), ORIANA (INR 140 crores, down 11.5%), SWARAJ (INR 133 crores, up 31.4%), and AIMTRON (INR 128 crores, up 12.6%). All trade in the regular SM series. OPTIVALUE and FORCAS were this month's two clearest smart money favorites from own screening. Both were placed just outside the top ten by turnover while still doubling or more over the month.

How turnover moved through the month

July was front loaded. The first half of the month (1 to 17 July) averaged roughly INR 242 crores of SME turnover a day, against roughly INR 215 crores a day in the second half. The single busiest day of the month was 6 July, at close to INR 305 crores, well ahead of any other session.
